Rishi Sunak richer than King Charles by £41 million Pounds

According to The Sunday Times Rich List, Rishi Sunak and his wife Akshata Murty saw their personal fortune grow by £122 million over the past year. Their estimated net worth rose from £529 million in 2023 to £651 million in the latest rankings. This surge in wealth is largely attributed to Murty’s significant shareholding in Infosys, the prominent Indian IT company co-founded by her father. The annual list of the wealthiest individuals in the UK now places them ahead of King Charles in terms of wealth.

As the wealthiest couple to ever reside at No. 10 Downing Street, the Prime Minister and Murty now rank 245th on the list. Their combined wealth surpasses that of King Charles, whose personal fortune increased this year from £600 million to £610 million. In 2022, the Sunaks were ranked higher than the late Queen Elizabeth II, whose wealth was estimated to be over £370 million that year, according to Metro UK.

This revelation comes amidst the ongoing cost of living crisis, highlighted by recent data from the Trussell Trust indicating that a record 3.1 million food parcels were distributed in the past year. The Prime Minister, who is steering the country through challenges posed by rising living costs, has a background as a hedge fund manager, although Murty is by far the wealthiest in the Sunak family. Sunak’s career includes a stint as an analyst at Goldman Sachs from 2001 to 2004 before becoming a partner at two hedge funds. Only 6.5% of Sunak’s total earnings are derived from his investments, with the remainder coming from his MP salary of £91,346 and his PM salary of £80,807.
