Naraina Flyover Closure causes Traffic Gridlock – New Routes Introduced Starting May 3rd

The Naraina Flyover, an essential connector between Dhaula Kuan and Mayapuri, has been partially closed for maintenance for 20 days starting May 1. This closure has led to significant traffic congestion in the area, causing inconvenience to commuters. To mitigate this, the Delhi Traffic Police has introduced measures to ease the impact on motorists during this period.

An advisory has been issued detailing changes in traffic flow, effective from May 3, to streamline movement in the affected areas. However, the western parts of the city are facing additional traffic challenges due to construction activities such as a subway, flyover, and underground cabling work on the Ring Road near Bharat Darshan Park in Punjabi Bagh.

For commuters traveling from Dhaula Kuan to Mayapuri, alternative routes are recommended:

1. Route 1: Take Vande Matram Marg from Dhaula Kuan, turn left onto Prof. Ramnath Viz. Marg, then left at Rattanpuri Chowk onto Dev Prakash Shastri Marg. Turn left at the Loha Mandi T-Point onto Goswami Girdhari Lal Marg, and finally, right at the Naraina T-Point onto Ring Road leading to Mayapuri.

2. Route 2: Travel via Cariappa Marg from Dhaula Kuan, then proceed on Shaheed Bhagat Singh Marg (Jail Road) until Lajwanti Chowk. Turn right onto Satguru Ram Singh Marg, leading to Mayapuri Chowk on Ring Road.

3. Route 3: Take Maude Marg from Delhi Cantt Metro Station, turn right onto Cariappa Marg, then onto Shaheed Bhagat Singh Marg (Jail Road) until Lajwanti Chowk. Turn right onto Satguru Ram Singh Marg, leading to Mayapuri Chowk on Ring Road.

The Delhi Traffic Police also advises the public to avoid roadside parking to ensure smooth traffic flow. It’s recommended to plan journeys in advance, especially when traveling to hospitals, ISBTs, railway stations, or the airport. Cooperation from commuters is encouraged by avoiding affected roads and using public transportation whenever possible to ensure a comfortable travel experience for everyone.
