Koffee with Karan Season 8 is out on Disney Hotstar and it’s recent episode on 16th November 2023 had two popular sister-in-laws, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Alia Bhatt. Although Alia seemed to be really out there in the show, Kareena in Koffee with Karan came across extremely disinterested and in a mood of her own that we shall talk about.
One thing to note here is this time, in Season 8 of Koffee with Karan, Karan Johar too came across a different person – good different. He sounded more genuine, authentic and surprisingly, he didn’t steer off the conversation towards sexual funny discussions and seemed to be more content without intruding into one’s sex life.
On several occasions, Kareen’s expressions and body gesture did indicate that she is genuinely disinterested in holding a conversation either with Alia or Karan. We do believe that everyone has their own right to behave they want to or to be secretive about their life, specially when one has been a victim of stardom over the years, or rather we say a happy victim.
Kareena in Koffee with Karan was also asked — why she didn’t show up for the launch party of the movie “Gadar” hosted by Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol and Amisha Patel, to which she replied “I was not in town”. As you read this, you may feel it sounds normal but as we watched the episode, Kareena in Koffee with Karan has a smirk as she said this. Even Karan had a quirky smirk on his face too. Obviously, this indicates there is something funny going on between Amisha Patel and Kareena Kapoor.
As the show reels further, Karan amusingly mentioned to Kareena — you were not in town or you had a history with Amisha Patel. This takes us back to the year when Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai was launched as initially, the lead actress of this movie was Kareena Kapoor who later got replaced by Amisha Patel. Hence, it is clear that Karan was indicating towards this “history” of both female stars.
Karan also asked Kareena in Koffee with Karan if she messaged to congratulate Sunny Deol and Amisha Patel or not for the grand success of their movie “Gadar” to which she replied — she did not and would congratulate them now through this show, right here. To this, Kareena and Karan had an instant laughter that was filled with smirks and we all know what.
Kareena is a star and comes from an affluent Bollywood family whereas Amisha Patel is a self made star. Although, she did come from a wealthy business background and was well read and educated, but she did not belong to a Bollywood family.
Throughout the show, Kareena’s body language conveys a message that interpreted as — When will this conversation end. Her answers to every Karan’s question were predictable and easy. It was evident that she is in no mood to discuss her life, or her private life on the show. Her answers were quite diplomatic and casual without any deep explanations to whatever she talked about.
As a part of the show, as we all know, Karan always comes up with funny games or something kiddish. This time apart from Rapid Fire round, he asked a few questions to the audience on Kareena and Alia. One of the question was – What goes through Kareena’s mind at a School Annual Day? Maximum percentage of the audience voted for the answer — Awkward, that’s my song the kids are dancing to while Kareena preferred the answer to be – This could’ve been an email.
Kareena’s answer above shows her usual disinterest in general and this is exactly what we are pointing towards. We too understand that how stars have to constantly protect their life from the media and how annoying it would get to be always the topic of discussion. So, to some, Kareena’s attitude in Koffee with Karan S8 may be disappointing but some may really empathise with her.
